The first church was organized on August 1, 1899 by Rev. Joe E. Brown on land that was donated by Mr. & Mrs. Ad Lowman. The church joined the Pilgrim Holiness Conference and named the church after it's founder.
"Browns Pilgrim Holiness Church"
The Pilgrim Holiness Church and the Wesleyan Methodist Church of America were united to form "The Wesleyan Church."
The church was then named,
"Brown Wesleyan Church."
Under the leadership of Rev. Dan K. Ledbetter the congregation constructed a new sanctuary & educational facility. The original church building was moved to another section on the property to be used as an auxiliary ministry building.
On February 15, 1987 a mortgage burning service was held to celebrate the liquidation of debt on the new sanctuary & educational facility.
To God be the glory!
On March 23rd, the church dedicated an additional 12,000 sqft ministry space- including the fellowship hall, office and more classroom space.
On September 17th, Brown Wesleyan took a bold step by changing the name of the church. The church would now be named, "Hope River Church"
On November 19th, Hope River celebrated a grand reopening of the new addition of a lobby & renovations. This new area serves as a great way to encouragement connection with the congregation & community.
As Hope River continues to grow, the church strives to live only ONE LIFE as we model for the future generations, Christ's love and grace to those not just in our community but around the world!
